To add a sub and an amp, I need a LOC, right?

If I am adding a subwoofer (10w6v2) and an amp (JL Audio 500/1) and nothing else (at least right now), I wire up the amp to power and get the signal by using a line out convertor on the signal wires coming from the Bose amp, correct?

Besides waiting for the JL Audio Cleansweep(which I will get in the future when I switch out my other speakers and add a 4 channel amp), anyone have any recommendations for a good LOC to get?

Thanks
Dave

Yes to the first question. Take it to audio/alarm shop (looks like a converted gas station) in Pearl City on Kamehemeha Hwy. across the HWY. from Nevada Bob's and Boston Pizza. Talk to Aaron, he does *clean* G35 installs.

Any decent LOC is fine. If you plan on spending $400-500 for the Cleansweep, why not just spend a couple hundred more and do DD conversion with aftermarket HU??? $400 (or less if you buy from Grubbs) for DD parts + ~$300 for decent HU = ~$700 vs. $500 for Cleansweep.

You don't need an LOC for the JL audio slash series amps.

Do a search for the Vendetta LOC. It works awesome and if you use the ground on the input side you can say good bye to RF noise as well. They are about $50. Another cool thing about them is they provide a stable 4 volt RCA signal on the output side without being powered.
Good luck.

I felt the same way until i realized how much better my system would sound by changing the HU out. It's worth the extra $.

As far as loc's are concerned, check out http://www.davidnavone.com and look under adapters. Those are some of the best LOC's available imo.

I understand, I had a high sound quality system on my 300ZX before I sold it, all told, about $5000 worth of equipment.

Regardless, I am more than willing to deal with the reduced sound quality because I want to stick with the stock HU for numerous reasons. The JL Audio Cleansweep should be the answer to that.

I've got the Navone LOC, and it hits great, just make sure to hook it up B4 the bose amp.

Are you sure about that? I thought the lines going to the bose amp had the pure signal, and then there was a seperate line that has data in it, including what volume to play the signal at, equalization, etc. Thus, if you hook it up before the Bose amp, you won't have any control over the volume from the head unit, which is not what I want.

Thanks for any help
Dave

That's not true. You still have control over volume if tapping in before the amp. I did and I used the Navone LOC

He is right. If you tap the line after the OEM headunit, but before the OEM amp, you will still retain volume and eq control from the OEM headunit.

Exactly which NAVOne Loc did you use for your application?
A specific recommendation would be great!

AFTER the BOSE AMP...is what the AUDIO CONTROL LC6 Manual requires you to do.....the unit is "made" (so they say haha) to work with the original bose amps....and to specifically hook it up after the amp.....sounds awesome.....
