Re: Another Screen

Although I can't speak for his install, that is something that GOOD car audio shops should be able to do. If you are familiar with fiberglass, you can do it yourself. Basic steps are you first take off the dash trim piece you want to mold something into. For the screen, you take off the trim that goes on the outside of the screen. You then cut a hole in your stock trim piece to fit the screen trim into. You can use about anything to attach one to the other... epoxy, hot glue, melt the pieces together, plastic weld, liquid nails, etc. Once together, you use either fiberglass resin or one of the SEM products to join the two cosmetically. Once connected, if you have your own shop you can use SEM texture coat and color coat if the trim piece is a textured dash piece. If it is a painted piece, your best choice is to take the newly molded together pieces to an auto-body shop, have them professionally smooth (sand) the piece and paint it like it was an exterior car piece. Once you get it back, you just mount the screen into its trim piece that is now molded to your stock trim piece. If anyone wants more details on this or other work, let me know

Re: Another Screen

You hit the install right on the head. JUst not quite as easy as it sounds. The screen is a alpine tme m 760. To anyone looking to do the same the hardest part is getting the angle of the screen right so that you dont black that you get from lcd screens at an angle. to anybody thinking about a plastayion 2 do yoursela favr and dont do it. Did it in a previous car. driving nd plaing video games dont mix. especially if its gran turismo. TRUST ME. I do recommend somthing more functioal like a computer though. working on that now hopefully it holds up better than the playstation.

Re: Another Screen

btw the screen was 600 usd if u need the perfect fitting dvd with no cutting for the top of the glove box eclipse dv3101.perfect combo. 670 usd for the dvd player. if you really have the need for navigation i reccomend the alpines its harder to find a place to mount but you can put it in the trunk because the screen has a remote sensor for the dvd/navi sytem

Re: Another Screen

The hard part of creating another one is the fact that is is added onto the original center piece of the center consloe. I only had to pay for parts and i do my own wiring. Fabrication I had a little help well alot of help with i could find out a price that he would charge becuause this times hes prety much on his own. If your intrested i will definetly find out. Normally in a shop you would pay about 300 to 400 dollars in labor plus whatever equipment you need. As r as equipment is concerned al u need is a video source (playstation/dvd) wires, trust me you get wh you pay for there, a screen, a rf modulator and a 12 pack

Re: Another Screen

To all that are seriously intreseted in having a monitor put into the cener pocket let me know. Im trying to arrange getting center consoles but i need a number that im trying to get.depending on the cost of th center consol is probally going to be the the biggest factor in determining the price.
