Audio Error Message

Hey all. I've read how most peeps have seen the "CD ERR FO" error message when using their CD player. But, I had the following message: "CD ERR F3".

When I called the service department, the rep said that the message that I received guaranteed a replacement for my current unit...saying something to the effect of: "...you received the worst possible error message. We'll place an order for a new head unit...should take about 5 days."

Well, this royally sucks as I'll be heading out of town this weekend and I'll be stuck listening to the damn radio with all of the f-ing commercials.

Geez, I kinda wish I had satellite radio!!!

"New" head unit is in...hopefully, there won't be any need for a follow up. Unless of course, the "new" head unit turns out to be a refurbished head unit.

Luckily, I found my original thread so that I can chronicle the events.

So, it appears that the first time around, my original head unit was replaced around 2 years after I had my car. And, wow...this time around, it only took a little under 2 years before the CD changer component of the head unit went to $#!t...again. However, this time the error message is the more common message: "CD ERR FO". And, this time around I have a CD that is stuck inside, so this sucks donkey ***** even more!!

I have already scheduled an appt to get this fixed/replaced. Moving forward, I don't plan on buying any product manufactured by Clarion.

Has anyone else had to get their head unit fixed/replaced a third time? Maybe even a fourth time?

Sometimes I wonder if the service rep really listens to the customer when scheduling appointments. I told her that I received the error message and that previously it resulted in the unit being replaced.

In any event, I drop my car off this AM and head to work with the loaner car. About an hour after I drop my car off, the service rep calls and says that they confirmed the error message and that they don't have the part in stock; they'll have to order it...so my car is ready for pick up.

Oh, well, it looks like I have to come back for another appointment...what a waste of time in scheduling this one. Well, after they install the "new" head unit, I figure that it'll last less than 2 years (based on two previous head units). Sooo, any recommendations on after-market head units that don't require to much work and maintain a stock console look?
