Question Aftermarket 5ch Amp on Bose '03 Sedan

Has anyone simply replaced the Bose amp, but not the speakers or headunit? If so, I have a few questions for you:

Where's the factory Bose amp located?
What amplifier did you replace it with?
Were adapters necessary, and, if so, where did you get them?
Could you describe the what the wiring looked like when it was finally working?
What modifications did you have to make to the car (if any)?
Was the sound improvement worth it?
Does anyone have any pictures they can post?

Any help or insight you could provide would be greatly appreciated!

a search will yield all, including pics of many installs...

I replaced the amp+speakers (infinity 7451a + diamond audio s600a & m361i) as I had trouble finding an amp to drive 2 ohm speakers - sound improvement is BIG - IF you dislike the weak high end and muddy midbass boomy sound that the Bose gives you.
