Ok G35 members i need your help!!
i got an issue with my car dealer "Crest Infiniti" in Plano(Dallas) Texas. Here's the issue at hand. i have aftermarket speakers, subs, and amps, kept the Bose HU. been playing loud and clear for over a year already... all of a sudden when playing ONLY cd's the left channel does not work, sounds distorted like the speakers are blown.. the dealer ordered the radio and i have the car there today(7-7-05), their telling me that my warranty is void for any audio because of the aftermarket equipment. any suggestions would be great!!!

you are going to have a hard time fighting the dealer on this one even though there have been a ton of G owners with this left channel problem from the stock HU. If you have aftermarket stuff on your stereo stuff, this will void your warranty unless you can prove WITHOUT A DOUBT (which you won't be able to) it was the stock equipment that caused the problem. Not worth the fight, you'll lose.
Instead of the dealer installing a new stock HU, I would just do DD conversion b/c you might have the same problem with the left channel failing even with a new stock HU and have to deal with this all over again.
you would think they would fix this reccurent left channel problem already.....

1. this is a known problem with bose head units
2. by law they must prove that your aftermarket install caused the problem
3. they must have seen this problem before, as its very common. the fact that they would deny your warranty claim knowing that you did not cause the problem means that they are either ignorant of the law or assume you would be, and just want to be a**holes about it. this is not the kind of business that you want to do business with.
i would first tell them that its a known problem with the head unit and explain that you didnt touch the head unit. if they still refuse, ask for a manager and a manager's manager. if that doesnt work, print out the applicable laws on the matter and show them that it is illegal for them to deny warranty work without *proving* that your work caused the problem. warn them that you may get an attourney. leave this for last though because by this point i would recommend you carry the car elsewhere. you dont want to force someone to work on your car who doesnt want to.
i would contact infiniti affairs on the issue as well, and explain to everyone their poor business practices. ultimately i would find another dealer to fix it after making this dealer's life hell.
if you need more help with this, post back and i'll help you find the applicable federal laws.

I guess when you only have one dealer/service department here in Hawaii, you're stuck.....
. For the one potential warranty issue I had with my G, the burden of proof was on me.......unfortunately I could not take my car anywhere else......luckily I found and fixed the problem myself through the help of my Infiniti Service Manual.doc
