Pac Audio Aux Pod

Recently got an ipod and looking at ways to install it in my G.
Most like will be going with a Belkin auto kit into a ipod dock (custom mount) to Pac NIS for my factory radio.

BUT, I just saw this on Pac's website, but of course they don't make it for nissan/infiniti. Are our cars that hard to make stuff for.

Anyone know of anything similiar.

thanks
mike

the PART# AAI-NIS is as close as you are going to get. Audio playback only, no control back to the ipod.

please use the search, this has all been done many times before.

What do you mean by "no control back to the ipod?" Do you mean through the stock stereo?

You yourself indicated the reason it wouldn't come up in a search:

If you're looking for information on what other members have done to intergrate their IPOD's to the stock stereo, besides FM modulators/transmitters and tape adapters, the PAC AAI-NIS is by far the most common, and I promise there are piles of up-to-date info on it, full DIY's, the works.

If you are actually interested in why the AUX-POD does not cover Infiniti/Nissan, one can only speculate. It has nothing to do with the difficulty of the task for PAC. The AAI-NIS actually has an output which relays the steering wheel commands. This is currently only intended to be used in conjunction with the SWI-X, but the output's protocol is at the discretion of PAC. They obviously have the IPOD side handled as is the case for the AUX-POD. With all the pieces, why have they not put them together? I've never researched it, but my theory is that is has something to do with Nissan's stated intention to offer OEM IPOD integration into their vehicles, and/or Apple's stated intention to offer aftermarket integration kits for Nissans. Naturally, PAC must do some reverse engineering in the development process, which is an industry wide gray area. Putting themselves in competitive territory with giants like Apple or Nissan would be a mistake. PAC is happy with the niche they have carved, and I'm quite happy with my AAI-NIS. I too was disappointed with the limited options available for us. It's the smaller companies that are agile enough to quickly meet the needs of customers, but when the big boys come along, they are best not to stand and fight for market share. My theory anyway.
