2 questions regarding carputer
2 questions regarding carputer
Hi All,
Got 2 quick questions, and response will be greatly appreciated.
1) Recently, it's really hot in Southern California (around 100 degrese), have anyone experience hardware problems with their carputer? Any parts malfunction?
and 2) I know people are mention about using the Pentium M Mobo/Processor as their carputer, does anyone have any expreience on that? If so, how are they? Any heat problems and how's the power consumptions?
Thanks in advance and hope everyone is enjoying their summer!

Yes, heat can be a problem. I never had any permenant damage from overheating, but I have experienced seemingly random crashes when things got too hot. I was able to fix this just by using a very loud and fast fan on my athlon.
In my experience, pentium Ms and VIA ITXs do very well in hot ambient temperatures and you probably won't have any problems if you go with either of them, choose something else and you should still be able to get it to work as long as you use a big enough heat sink and fan.

Thanks God of CPU, the reason I brough the heat question up is recently my VIA board went bad and I'm thinking if it's related to the heat or is it because it's a defective unit
