Audio, Video & Electronics Post questions, reviews, and other general info about the G's Nav, sound system, or satellite radio

these prices seem rather reasonable.

I stumbled accross this. For those of you located in SoCal. price seems very reasonable. also seems like a great alternative for aftermarket nav!

Hmmm...interesting. But when you have that kind of setup, I think it lacks the ability an aftermarket head unit has, such as; Sub output, crossovers, etc....

Anyone have any experience with these "carputers"?

Well when i had my Mr2 i actually did quite a bit of reserach into this.

You actually have the same capabilities that an aftermarket head unit would have, you would just need an Amp since normally the HU will power the speakers.

This carputer setup seems great simply because it is SO versatile. I could not imagine having anything else.

Nope. But i do know that you it can do anything a head unit can do from my previous reserach. I just meant that if i were to do something like a nav or DVD player, i would definatly go the carputer route.

These prices on this site seem pretty reasonable though

The only downfall i can see to this setup is if you want the motorized screen you would have to pay up to 2200 for that, but then if you browse around the site you will find that it is VERY customizable.

probably, you can always do the work yourself cheaper, but not everybody on this board knows how to do this kind of thing themselves.
