Aftermarket Premium Rearview Mirror INSTALLED!

So I installed my aftermarket Premium Rearview Mirror. It is the 50-GENK40. I now have the homelink system in my car and auto dimming! YAY!

It was a pain! I had to route the wires through the headliner, down the A pillar, under the steering wheel behind the car stereo to where I tapped in.

I didn't have time otherwise I would have installed my PAC SWI-PS. I still need to do that. Here are a couple pics!

Nice. I've thought about doing the same thing. Is it just a power and ground wire that you have to run? How much was the mirror?

dont you have power at the map lights? Seems like it should have been easier.

You do have power at the map lights, but you dont just need constant 12V, you need 12V that turns on with the key as well.

FYI.. this is the same mirror that Subaru dealers sell for around $200 (search froogle for Subaru Homelink Mirror). Not sure what Infiniti wants for these, but hope this helps.

I also have a 2005 G35 without the Premium Package and would like to upgrade to the HomeLink mirror.

Inno - Did the new Gentex mirror fit the existing window button in your non-Premium 2005 G35? The mirror in my 2005 G35 seems to attach to the window much differently than a friends 2004 Premium Edition. My non-Prem mirror has a plastic cover around the mirror attachment point. I don't see any evidence of a screw like the 2004 Premium mirror. How did you remove your non-Premium mirror?

mario24601 - I thougt all G35's would be wired the same too. I went to Lokey Infinity and asked about it. I thought I could just upgrade mirrors. The Service Tech took me to their Interior Installer Specialist and he said the non-Premium G35's have a different wiring harness without any attachment point for a HomeLink mirror.

ps: I would have purchased the Premium Package but they wouldn't sell it without a sun roof...

To remove your 05 mirror, you pop that little plastic piece down, that will then allow you to pull the mirror off the button. You pull it up towards the headliner.

Then the new mirror slides down over the button and with an allen wrench you tighten the screw against it. Pretty easy.

I did a search online for the 50-GENK40. I bought mine for $199. There weren't any on ebay.

My OEM premier mirror vibrated on bumpy roads or when the stereo bass was turned up. Does the after market one behave the same way?

Thanks.

So far no vibrations that I can tell. It is pretty solid!

How were you able to even get into the headliner? Man I had a pain hardwiring my V1 up there. I thought that mirror already had connections up othere for power but maybe I am wrong.
