OEM Headunit question

Noob question! Can I use a newer head unit (w/mp3 capability) in place of my 2003 headunit? Are there compatibility / connectivity issues?

I am not positive, but i have owned a 04 and currently own a 05, and the buttons/functions are a little different. But for the most part it is the same, id be interested to know since the 4 buttons on the top are the only ones that really changed. Anyone know?

I don't think that's a noob question. It's probably a pretty damn good one.

Multiple Dealerships say no.

For what its worth:
I've been to several dealerships in the Boston and Long Island area with this question. They all told me the same thing. That its not compatible.

But perhaps they are wrong. I certainly would like to put the 05 head unit in my 04.

I miss playing mp3's in my car and I don't know where I would put an Omnifi head unit since I already have NAV taking up the most convient spot.

Im not sure where your getting at....BUT I have a Bose setup 04 and the dealership that it does not play mp3s and such but I have no problem playing CD's with .mp3 format. I hope this answers your question...

What he's asking is if the 04' HU supported MP3 CD's, not .mp3's burned to a CD (.mp3 files are converted to .cda or .wav when burned). The difference being 10 hrs. vs 84 mins. of audio respectively.

The answer as stated above is correct, only the 05's play MP3 CD's.
