Bose clarification
Hi, can someone clarify 2 questions for me?
1) How many speakers does the Bose system come with? That's 2 tweeters, 2 drivers in the doors, 2 drivers in the back, and 1 bass? Is that right?
2) Why is it an issue with the ohms when changing out speakers? Can't we just buy a (for example) set of 5" speakers from Crutchfield and just do a direct swap for the drivers in the back or the doors to get more treble?
Thanks for any insight!

Which vehicle are you talking about, coupe or sedan? My coupe has 8 speakers, I believe, but the sedan has a bass woofer in the middle of the back shelf, so maybe it has 9? check infiniti.com
The Blose speakers run at low impedence (2 ohms) but regular speakers are 4 or 6 ohms. If you install speakers with higher resistance, less current will flow to them and the sound volume will be much less. You would have to crank up the volume and you will probably overheat or blow the cheap amp.

1) That's correct for a sedan.
2) It's easy to buy and mount replacement speakers; just not 5" ones. The sedan uses 6.5" drivers in the front and rear. I would recommend a component set for the front; and a component set using a coaxial design for the rear doors. For what it's worth, Crutchfield does not really carry too many choices of high end drivers; they tend to focus more on the low to mid range (price wise). For example they carry MB Quart, but not the best MB Quarts; only the lesser models. You really don't need to worry about impedence for component sets. For a sub-woofer, it can be more of a concern; you don't want to stress your amplifier.

Regarding the impedence, since everyone is complaining about the sound quality, aren't there simple 2-ohm speakers that can be used as direct replacements? And if so, where can we find these?
I repaced my door speakers (MB Quarts) using the stock Bose amp, and it made a huge improvement. Using a higher impedence speaker is not a problem. You can use any good component set(s) and get an improvement. My choice would be, in order of my preference:
1] Morrels
2] MB Quart Q series
3] Focals
4] JL
5] Boston Acoustics
6] MB Quart PCE series
ANY of these component sets will blow the stock Bose away, and all will show another quantum leap forward when you decide to get better amplifier(s).
