DUUUUDE! That is exactly what I wanted to do but I heard it couldn't be done without cutting up the ducting.

How did you get it in?

Thanks! well the headunit is installed at a 45 degree angle..I believe Pioneer recommends installing at an angle no more than 30 degrees but I have had no issues with skipping at all...installing at that angle allows you to keep the ducting behind the cubby hole without cutting. The after market unit is actually installed inside the pocked, you just have to cut the bottom of the pocket so that the unit could slide through. I had to remove the factory 6 cd changer because of the angle of the after market unit hits the top of the changer. See link below…hope I all of this helps. Good Luck.

MorenoEnNYC, nice install man. What is the depth of the pocket before you hit the duct? I was planning to do something similar but with an 8" stand alone monitor and add in a separate stereo HU.

MorenoEnNYC.....

Did you have to order a special top for that console, since it's attached to the unit? When the unit's out..does it cover the clock and the display unit for the temp gauges?

Hmm not sure of the depth (in inches) before the unit hits the duct...the duct is just behind the cubby so there isn't much room before you hit the duct. I use the stock cubby lid and just attached a hinge to the top of the monitor and attached the lid to that. Yes the clock is blocked by the monitor but I am able to see the digital readout above i.e. temp settings etc.

Did the install myself and only cost me the amount of the unit, time and patience...My local install shop let me use some of their tools etc. Took me an entire day but I know now I can prob do this install in a few hours.
