"Harness" for Bose plugs?
So I'm planning my new audio system in which I am replacing my stock Bose amp, and I'm wondering if anyone knows where I could get (or how I could make) a wiring harness for the incoming and outgoing plugs of the amp? I'm thinking a wiring harness much like they make for replacing the stock HUs in cars. It would be sweet if I could connect a harness to the input plug that was going into the stock bose amp which would give me nice speaker wires for connecting to my LOC. This way if/when I ever want to sell my car and keep my equipment, I can simply unhook the harness, connect the stock amp back in and be done. Likewise I would hook a harness to the output plug that was hooked to the stock amp, and connect the wires to the outputs on my amp. It would be soooo sweet, someone be my hero!
I have researched this and even contacted Bose about it, and there is no way (that I found) to purchase only the recepticle. I ended up ripping one out of a stock amp that I purchased from another user (thanks again, Pfizzle). I made my harness by removing the recepticles from the Bose amp, cutting the pins really short and then soldering the leads to the PAC loc unit. Also, I soldered about 5 or 6 feet of speaker wire to the output connectors, and put the whole thing in a radio shack project box.
It still has the "homemade" feel to it, but it works like a charm and I can put the stock amp back in anytime I need (useful if I dont convert my lease to a purchase).
It took a while to build, but in my opinion it is much cleaner than splicing into the factory wiring and having to cut wires.
Hope this helps!
