OEM Sattelite Radio = Monthly Fees?

For those of you that got the OEM Satellite Radio installed on your car, do you still have to pay a monthly fee? I have heard that XM or SIRIUS was offering a one time fee if you get the factory installation done. If you do pay monthly, how much is it? Thanks in advance.

No, you buy the equipment and the monthly fees are the same regardless. $12.95/mo for XM or Sirius. For a while (still maybe?) XM was offering free activation and 3 mo. of free service for Infiniti owners. That's about it... unless I completely missed the boat....

Did you have the Satellite Radio when you bought the car or did you get it done by the dealer afterwards? Do you know how much parts and labor are? I got quoted for $500 for parts/labor.

When I initially registered my Sirius tuner online, they also offered me the lifetime option, but I didn't do it, because I am not sure how long I will have the car. I forget the exact calculation, but I think break even between my current 2 yr quarterly paid subscription and the lifetime option is at around 4 yrs.

i know with most new cars with factory xm headunits, the activation and first three months are free. that is pretty much with all new vehicles and not just infiniti. after the free trial period is over, the owner is responsible for the payments. i'm not sure about sirius though.

That is the same for the Sirius units as well. Free activation and 3 months of service. Never heard of the lifetime subscription before, that may be something to look into, assuming you keep the car for a while.

I bought the oem Sirius unit from Grubbs and installed it myself. When I activated it, I got 3-months free.

It's $12.95 per mo if you pay monthly or $9.95 per mo., but must be paid in full up front ($119.40)
