Anyone go this route yet? If so.. did you remove the old factory navi, or just leave it for the car computer functions?

Any market for selling this stuff? That is, if I install the D1 system*and remove the navi screen, dvd player and antenna - what's it worth? Anyone want to buy it?

Thanks in advance!

BoB... yup to both! I travel in rush hour traffic in chicago so the traffic updates are key. That, and I am an ipod owner and a guy that takes his kids for long rides from time to time... all adds up to the D1!

So, what's the stock Navi worth to you LJN?

Well now, apparently it's a selling market for this then I am just getting my hands around it. If I do this, it won't be until November/December. I will post up info on the components available. In the meantime, if you all can figure out what that stuff is worth, it would help matters tremendously. Also, keep in mind, we'll need to trade stock cubby for the display.

I doubt he'll want to sell once he figures out how 'integrated' with the car it really is. Especially the wire harnesses, etc.

There's numerous ways to hook up an iPod and there's alot of available traffic report options in Chicago such as updates through sirius or xm or your cell phone. Unfortunately the traffic info available is not good enough to have a computer decide on any new routes, so you will have to do your own custom detours once you figure out where the problem areas are... The highway info in Chicago is mediocre and traffic info on side roads is not existent; so once you exit the highway you have no idea what you are getting yourself into unless you have done it before. But if you really want to blow a few grand and a ton of time on an install like this thats OK, but be mindful there are alternatives to what you want.

Hey Beo.. good points. My hang ups are... I want satellite radio, I want nav, I want Ipod, I want video in capable monitor display. I can have 80% of that with stock and hacks, but at the end of the day, they're hacks, I shell out $400 for video input, $150 for audio input, $100 for remote integration and it's all still a hack. This is why I was thinking about the big nav. I wish I could try one somewhere.

Also for me, I travel i88 all the time, and the stuff coming off the radio and www either skips it all together or gets it onece in a while only. URRGH. You'd think one of the largest cities in the country would have a clue - especially with all the toll money we sink into it.
