For those with OEM Satellite Radios...

Is there enough room on the stock headunit to display the different channels? I know XM and Sirius have over 150 channels and notice that there are only buttons 1-6 available for selection. Do you select channels based on category and if so is it efficient? Can someone please post pictures of the unit in action? Thanks.

The pictures wouldn't be that interesting. You can jump categories then tune up or down to the channel you want. It simply displays what the categories are. When you tune it shows you the channel number and then after about 5 seconds it will show the channel name or song or artist(user selected perference). If you know the channel of what your looking for its pretty quick, but its not the best for channel surfing. I've never used a generic sirius radio so I'm not sure how much better or worse it is.

You can program SAT1 and SAT2 (like FM1 & FM2) to store up to 12 channels. The selector on the steering wheel does not tune but skips through these so you would find your favorite stations and program them (just like the FM)...

aftermarket display unit

Anyone using a aftermarket display with the OEM sat? Example, will the XM commander display unit work with out XM sat? Or something else I can use???

I want to use a display unit that show 3-4 lines (i.e. channel, title, artist, etc).

thanks....

In my 04.5, I push the "RPT/DISP" button. It will cycle between Artist, Title, Station, and Station Name. Push and hold to set the default.

On the 05 you press the display button for 2 seconds to change from title, channel, artist, etc. But you have to press and release each time.

Everything is setup to work with the head unit; nothing else. If you want a bigger display you are stuck with a whole double-din conversion with an aftermarket sat box.
