We bought my wife a 61 VW Ragtop about a month ago. It didnt have a Stereo so I had to install one. Theres no place to put the front speakers so I thought I would make so kicks for the car. I should be finished with them tomorrow or atleast get them in primer.

Starting to come together Steve but how about a quick DIY on how to make the "mold" to start a kick panel enclosure? Is that standard aluminum foil you used so you can pull the FG off the car?

It looks like you trimmed away a lot of the front edge, which would give your kicks kind of an inward-firing angle rather than pointing at you, unless I'm reading your pics wrong... and what are you putting in here?

I checked the angle by holding up the speaker. The speaker are nothing big, just some kenwoods. I should gave done this with my MB's in the G. But this will be a good test before I start tubbin the trunk on the G.

G35 Kicks
Steve - Here's what I managed to shoe-horn into my coupe. Those R Focal Utopia 6.5" I've crossed over as midranges.

Seeing your tutorial will bring back memories as well - good job so far & can't wait to see the finished product!

I've shortened the E-brake by about 4" since these pics & it works perfectly while hidden as well!

Very nice!! Yeah I wish I had more room in this Vdub. I also want to add a second ring to give them a drop in look but the area is just too small! Oh well this is my first set. Im sure my second would turn out sweet! I just cant wait to get paint on these.

MeanGene, do the sealed enclosures really make an improvement in the midbass?
