el_duderino, Thoughts on CDT components

Just what the thread title says. Have been looking at components for my G's doors. I am very into SQ and not DB. My last car had homebrew, Audax HD-A mid woofers and Audax Silk tweets and the Xover was done by an EE/audophole friend of mine that has since moved away. Been doing lots of reading and came across the CDT. Are you familar with this line and what do you think of them. I tend to like a fairly neutral sound maybe tending toward a little Cali. This being in the Home speaker jargon. Example, liked KEF's, but they were just a tad too laid back. I listen to many different Genere's, but do believe that the speaker is merely supposed to reproduce and not make music. HU will be replaced some time in the future, looking at Eclipse and possible Alpine. I have an old, carver M-240 that has been from car to car with me and has server me very well and is actually a sweet sounding amp, that will drive whatever components I put in the doors. Bottom end will be a 4080 with a JL 10W6V2 powered by JL500/1.
I am trying to keep this project from getting too expensive, so kilobuck Focals and such are simply out of my range for now. Found some nice factory deals on the CDT ES line.
I am open to suggestions.
Thank you!
Jay

You know, I hear some good things, but I haven't heard them yet - so I can't directly comment.

No one up here carries them. I have been a bit curious... but I think their tweeter xover point is too high (4.3 to 3.7khz, depending) for me to be able to get my favorite effect - vocals out of the tweeters that are high and forward. The mids look like they are either Vifa or Seas, maybe?

I am a huge proponent of the DLS UP6 kit, with a 2200 xover point and a neo magnet and 2' voice coil. I'd put them up against the CDTs if the tweeters are going on the A pillar in a heartbeat.

I see exactly what you are saying. If we had mids and tweets together, then that high x-over would be fine, but with our seperation, I see the problems we are talking about. I do have to give them credit for mid woofers with that wide a range though. Can you point me to a site with info on the DLS line? I in all honesty am unfamilar with it. Then find a seller.
Thank you for your time and assistance.

i got CDT's component sets and they are awesome. My friends have them as well and i highley recommend them. they pretty much sound like the rainbows and focals but much smoother and not as harsh as mb-quarts/a.diamonds.
My setups are CDT's Ef-61 w/560 cross and 1"drt25., jl10w6v2, hifonics, 4080box

I have the same component set but I don't have them installed yet. I've heard them in another car and thought they sounded great. Better than anything else that I heard for the same price. Can't wait to get mine installed.
