Did you add any sound dampening materials in your trunk?

Is getting one of those optima batteries really necessary? Is it more precautionary against your car not starting or does it really help with the system?

I have heard mixed things about optimas for quite some time. Some people swear by them others won't trust them. I personally had some issues in my older IS300 after getting my system installed the lights flickered bad for the first week and after that the car had trouble starting up. I brought my car to a local alternator shop and they respun my alternator (which was $$$$$) and that didnt take care of the problem. I bought an optima for a last resort and I had great luck with it, the dimming was very minimial. (yes i had a cap). I kept the car for about a year after that and only drove it on the weekends and it had no trouble starting on fridays. And I always had the stereo bumped when I would take it out. So all in all that battery got plenty of abuse and it held up great.


I personally just bought a civic optima for my G the 51R but my installer/friend is strongly opposed to putting a battery in with less CCA that stock. So I went out and got (yes got, not bought) a standard 35series full size optima and hes going to switch my battery terminals around so it will work. I may use the civic optima as a backu[ in the trunk but i dont think its necessary, as of now, but I may add to my stereo later on down the road and may need it.


About cooling, their is a fan under their, Im not exactly sure how it works though, I didn't ask him to many technical questions. I wasnt their while he was doing the install becuase I didnt have a car or a ride to get up to his shop. If anyone else has anymore questions lemme know.
