Viper 791XV install questions
Viper 791XV install questions
So I'm looking at getting the Viper 791XV with Remote Start for my 05 Sedan. I went to Hifi Buys and talked to them about it. They say that in order for the Remote Start to work they will need to install a Universal Immobilzer which will require a key to be hid inside my dash so that the car can recognize the computer chip imbedded in our keys. I have never heard of needing to do this. He said they didn't make an Immobilizer for the G yet, thus having to use the DEI 556UW Universal Immobiler and an Infiniti key with chip.
I did a search and see some people mentioning this, but is this really the best way to go in this case?
If so, can I give up my Valet key for this and keep my 2 other keys?
Thanks for the info!

Yes, since the G has a chip in the key they will need a key inorder for it to start via remote. Not sure about the immobilizer not being out for the G but I hav this same alarm/remote start on my Ford SuperDuty and lov it. It will be very easy to continue adding all the Viper goodies for this alarm (the price goes up quick)
Good luck

Dude it is freaking awsome!! It depends on your location and what types of material are in between you and the antenna. This alarm uses an antenna that is usually mounted to your winshield just under your rear veiw mirror. The most important thing about getting this alarm is Quality of the install. Quality Installation of an alarm/remote start with all the bells and whistles is Key. Ask your installer many detailed questions about the install and make sure that they have been in business for awhile. Good luck
Range is a function of distance, walls and terrain, and RF interference. Any range mentioned by ANY manufacturer is usually theoretically possible only on the surface of the Moon.
Trust me on this one. The siren's not really 128 dB either.

Can I give up my Valet key as the key for the Universal Immobilizer? All it needs is to recognize the chip in the key, right?
Also, where did you guys have the LED light installed? Pics if possible, would be great.
All the info is much appreciated as I get ready to have this installed!
