LAPTOP QUESTION

Guys,
Need some of your expertise. I want to put my laptop in my coupe, so I went and bought a power inverter. But my question is, is there any way possible that I can somehow hook up my computer to the bose system? So when I watch DVD's on it, the sound will play through the speakers........HELP!!!!!!!! thanks a bunch MASTERSR6

Re: LAPTOP QUESTION

yes, right now the easiest solution is to go and buy a $10 cassette tape adapter and plug that into your "headphone" port on the laptop. Very simple solution. Oh and dont forget to press the "CASSETTE" button on the radio

Some company was coming out with a way to wire the Satelite button on the radio to an external source (such as a PC or laptop or mp3 player) I have not heard from them in a while.... but yah the cassette thing should work just fine!

Re: LAPTOP QUESTION

That would be so sweet if I could wire my Pocket PC to my SAT button so I can play mp3's off of it and use it in the car.

Thanks - Joey Avino

Re: LAPTOP QUESTION

Ok, thanks for the help Rambo! Do you know what the quality of the sound is like? Compared to a tape vs. CD. I have never owned one of those players. MASTERSR6

Re: LAPTOP QUESTION

I use a tape adapter to play mp3s off of my nomad jukebox, sounds good. Better than fm radio but worse than cd or sat. Also depends on the mp3 file bitrate.

Re: LAPTOP QUESTION

malx,

There should be a headphone out connection on your Pocket PC, use that to connect the tape adapter and you're all set... the quality is pretty good, not quite CD quality but close (depends on the quality of the cassette adaptor).

Re: LAPTOP QUESTION

FM Modulator on the stereo and FM signal output device on your laptop. They have these for Ipods so more likely they will have them for laptops.

- Don't argue with idiots. They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.=P-

Re: LAPTOP QUESTION

Yeah, but quality drops significantly with the FM modulator.

Re: LAPTOP QUESTION

I don't want to use a cassette, I want it to be hardwired. Nothing cheesy for my car, no offense to you cassette lovers.

Re: LAPTOP QUESTION

heh but for $10 you cant beat it! besides, would be nice to "hide" the cassette input wire all along the side of the console and then to the armrest

Re: LAPTOP QUESTION

I'm thinking about doing the same setup to throw in a labtop.
I did some search and here is what i found to input the audio from the labtop.
1. Tape adapter (easiest way i guess)

2. FM Transmitter or modulater.
LineX Wireless FM Transmitter Here is the best FM Transmitter i found and heard that the quality of it is pretty good... expensive comparing to the tape though.

3. Get a headunit with aux in

4. Get a amps and use Y splitter to accept two input to the amps (from headunit and the labtop) But make sure you turn off one when you are using the other one. Or just get a switch box to switch it.
