2005 6MT Coupe Ipod integration - no sat button

Hey guys,
I'm brand new to the forum and have done a search on this topic, but haven't found a solid answer. I have an 05 6MT Coupe in Athens Blue. I am considering a few options for my coupe:
1) Keep Bose system, add ipod integration.
2) Replace Bose system with aftermarket DVD player/mp3 hook up, etc.

I would love some of you guys to post the best solution for each of these and HOW to do it and what parts I need. I'm all about the clean install, and would like an install that can hide the ipod away and won't have to have too many modifications to the car. I saw one guy install his nano in the ash tray/cigarette lighter and it looked clean. I want to install the new video ipod, would it fit there? Please help out guys, and please don't flame me for asking. *newbie needs help. I've attached a few pics of my car for you all to see. Cheers!

Do a search on the PAC AAI-NIS. That's what you'll need for iPod integration. It adds two aux inputs to your OEM HU. I installed mine yesterday. You don't need a Sat button for it to work. The mode button on your steering wheel will cycle through your inputs.

'05 G35 w/Bose - no SAT Button

My Bose unit has a strange button labled PTY CAT that seems to show radio genre, etc. Will the PAC AAI-NIS work with it without disabling in the in dash CD changer? If so, does PAC provide resonable install instructions?

Thanks!

That's a good DIY site but don't follow those instructions for an '05. An '05 is much easier than that. You don't need to remove anything other than what's on the console and a screw up by the clock that holds the aluminum bracket in place.

REALLY??? You only had to remove the center console and a screw by the clock??? Is this true for a 6MT?? Oh man...that's gonna save me a ton of headaches ! Now, I'm even more motivated to get this done . Thanks!

Yes, I believe that it's the same for the 6MT. There are two screws that hold on the back piece of the console and then one screw each for the trim pieces that run along each side of the console. The aluminum piece around the shifter simply pops out. This leaves you with 5 screws that hold the aluminum bracket around the radio and HVAC. Much easier than previous years.

Hey, I have a 2005 G35C with no SAT button. When i scroll through the rad button i only get AM1, FM1, FM2. When i scroll through the mode button on my steering wheel i get CD, AM1, FM1, FM2. Now i just wanted to make sure, but once i plug in the PAC unit to the back of my radio, the SAT option will appear when i scroll through hitting the mode buttion or radio button? Thanks for your time!

Jimmy

Hmm..thats a good question. I've always assumed that once the AAI-NIS gets plugged in, that I'm all good. I also have the same set-up as you w/ my '05 6MT. Anyone care to jump in ??

Yes, once you plug in the PAC, you'll have an SR1 and SR2 which are the two aux in from the PAC.

Im confused...when you install the AAI-NIS it connects where the sat. is connected in the back of the radio? the ipod will come up as Sat 1? will it show the title on the radio unit and can you use the steering controls to change tracks on the ipod

Nothing from the iPod will be shown on your HU if you just install the AAI-NIS. You also can't use the steering controls to control the iPod. I believe that there are other devices that can be installed that will do these things but I don't have them installed.
