Angry more Bose woes...

putting all standard bose complaints aside:

now i've been having big problems with the buttons. the 5 button (for radio preset) is not working at all now. so its stuck on that preset and no way to change it (and it somehow incorrectly set something i dont want set). and now i'm occasionally having trouble with all buttons (including steering wheel controls) -sometimes not working at all, no matter what i'm pressing. this is very disheartning. anyone have any ideas, or seen something similar?
i'm out of my 60k mile warranty-anything that can be done???
thanks in advance

take it and scream and hollar if you need to. It's a known problem that our HUs suck like crackwhores and random things break (buttons stop working, speakers go in and out, etc, etc), it should be replaced regardless of mileage. sorry to hear your having problems it's still a great car though!

Going in for warranty exchange of headunit because my seek up button doesn't work. Call me picky, but I pay for something, I need it to work 100%. This is also retribution for my hatred towards dealers. Warranty is your best friend.

^^^i'm out of warranty

this is what bose replied:
Hello Andrew,

Thank you for your inquiry regarding the Bose Automotive Music System
in your 2003 Infiniti G35. I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing
a problem with the steering wheel controls and buttons on the head
unit. The Bose Automotive Music System is jointly manufactured, the
speakers and amplifiers are supplied by Bose Corporation and the radio/cd
changer portion of the system is supplied by Clarion Corporation.

I am not sure if Infiniti Motor Corporation has been contacted or if
they have started a reference file # on this case but if they have I
would like to get that information. Bose Corporation is not the supplier
of the radio/disc changer so we are unable to replace or repair the unit
directly but we would like to assist you.Thank you for contacting Bose
Corporation.

I've searched and read about how people have gotten their headunits replaced. Is there an official TSB (I could not find one) for this? If possible, I'd like to reference an official Infiniti acknowledgement of the issue so that I don't argue with my dealer over my aftermarket amp and speakers being the source of signal cut-outs. Thanks.

My cd player is jammed and wont function at all. This all happened after I installed the Pac AAI-NIS into the "Bose" headunit. I'm bringing my car in tomorrow for its first free service. Do you guys think the dealer will give me a hard time about repairing/replacing my headunit after installing the AAI-NIS? Would it be considered voiding my warranty?

Bose Blows

Here's a suggetion if you up for it. It sounds to me that the number five is stuck. Take a very small screwdriver or something and slide it under and see if you can ease the button off and then check the rubber underlying the bottom to see if it has become crossed in there where it's stuck. You should be able to sort of just wiggle it, or take some tweasers of similar thing adn try to ease it loose.

Just my two cents, but that is what it sounds like to me...i'im a novice at best.

On the CD player i'd disconnect the batter negative and put your foot on the brake or turn the ignition on for a sec to discharge any remaining voltage and the CD player I would think would reset itself. Worth a try anyway.....
