Just FYI.
I called phatnoise today and they confirmd that if you are able to get the cable, Kenwood model # KHD-5L1, all you have to do is update the firmware through the software and it will work.
So I'm assuming that all phatbox's/MusicKeg's are simply read only and the differences are in the cables. I believe this is what DJROBX already said and found out with his spare phatbox.
But Phatbox's are a bit more expensive that MK's. I guess you could also do what a previous poster said. Just sell the phatbox and buy a cheaper MK. The before mentioned cable will run about 60 bucks. But I'm not sure if the MK's come with larger than 10gig DMS cartridges. Guess you can always buy another one.

The question really is, though, how do you get the cable; I say this, because, as I understand it, PhatNoise, the makers of the PhatBox, will not sell you a cable for a different car than you originally bought your PhatBox for, due to licensing agreements.
I could be wrong, but thats how I understand it.
