Eclipse AVN7000 - 1-DIN DVD-NAVI-HDD 7" SCREEN

Looks like a new product was just released.
It looks hot.

Does anyone know anything about these units?
Any dealer info?

I'd love to get something like this. My main beef with these type of units is that they always disable video playback while in motion AND sometimes even interacting with the navigation.

Now, I'm all about some safe driving. I never will watch a DVD movie while I am driving. But I'd love for my passenger to be able to do so.

However, I think not having the ability to reprogram or make adjustments to NAV while driving is ridiculous. I can make small modifications to a NAV while driving just as easily as I can to my radio.

I understand why they do it, but I think it's stupid. Stupid lawsuits by stupid people = I get stupid products.

If this unit doesn't do those two things, I'm all for looking into getting one.

Otherwise I'll stick with my car PC that lets me do all of the above + more for about the same $.

Eclipse moving lockouts have typically been very simple to bypass. Simply bind the parking wire to the ground. Since I haven't toyed with this unit in particular, I don't know for sure, but even the more advanced moving lockout mechanisms like the ones on the Pioneer AVIC-N2 and D1 models can be easily negated.

Any users or delers have info on this product?

From what I've read, most of them are using gyroscopes now to determine movement. I have not heard a means for defeating this method.

The Pioneer uses gyros but can be bypassed with an easy mod. It's in the SW - non-US SW doesn't do it.

The Eclipse is as of now still just using the brake wire. I haven't ordered any 7000 yet.

has 2V pre-outs... like the D1.

i have line drivers on my D1 and that improved the SQ. If you get the 7000, you might think about the same.

I'd wait for the new Pioneer Z1.

But the 7000 will do Sirius. 95 won't.

Eclipse is saying that the 95 does not support it. They had to take that out to prevent recording on the HD from the Satellite.

I just got a couple in stock this week. Regardless of the 2V output, paired with the DCU105 processor it is hands down the best of both worlds having navi and full control of an active 3 way front stage. Who else offers a 24bit DAC, 5V/550Ohm preouts, full active capabilites,TA,etc,etc...? Try pairing up a D9 combo with an N2 and maybe Pioneer will have something to compare.

For those wondering price...The 7000 is $2695 just like the 5495. MSRP respectively.

These were carried over from Japan units. It looks like the HDD in Japan has the music juke feature (has the gracenote logo). But still, this is by far the best hands down High end unit out there, I have the 5435 w/ sirius. I ordered the 5495, but there was still a delay in August so I said screw it, I'll get the 5435 so I can play sirius. Hopefully they will add Sirius to the nest generation 5495---take a look at japan's site. This will give you a heads up on what is comming next year or so. They have an HDD unit that has a 4 dvd/cd changer in it. AWESOME! Pear05G, do you have any heads up on Eclipse ' s new units for 2006? (replacement of the 5495/5435)
