2005 stock output

Has anyone tried to power true component speakers with the stock head unit (non-bose)?

Also, is there an external crossover for the tweeter and woofer from a common amplified output, or does the amplifier bi-amp the tweeter and woofer?

I am trying to find a decent set of component speakers that I can drive with the headunit without having to go all out with an amp.
Thanks

The 2004 (which I am sure is identical to the 2005 in these regards) has a single output from the amp that goes to door panel. There, the output is split with a junction. One side of the split goes to the woofer, the other side to the tweeter. The tweeter has a resistor on it, I would assume this acts similar to a bass blocker.

I simply cut the wire before the junction, connected it to my crossover and ran new cables for the woofer and tweeter.

I am running an aftermarket amp.

I am sure you can get SOMETHING to work off of the stock amplifier, a lot of people run Infinity Kapas. I believe the front tweeter+woofer presents a 4 ohm load (stock).

I have my front component set (Focal Polykevlar) being powered by the stock head unit right now, while I'm waiting for my new amps to arrive. Sound is much more clear, but no where near their potential.

It'll work but there's really no use in getting a component set w/o a new amp to power them.

At what volume level (on the HU) and dB do you feel that the stock non-Bose HU is running out of juice?
