Aftermarket Head Unit

Hey, I got my double din dash kit from ***. not too long ago for my 03' coupe. I was wandering what some of you did as to rewiring, new headunit and stuff like that. Only because I wanted to put a Kenwood ddx-8017 (double din touch screen player, really nice) but cannot do so because of the bose (a.k.a. blowz) system. I was told it needs to be totally rewired with new speakers and a new amp to the new speakers. Labor for this will run about 8 hours at $75 an hour where i live (Delaware) ouch! Anyone have any tips about what to do? I really don't wanna end up paying an absured amount of money. Thanks guys, anything you can sugest will help.

all you need is the wiring harness and antenna and you can use stock speakers and amp

Are you guys SURE?? I mean i thought that since the aftermarket headunit is pushing out 4 ohms to the speakers and the bose speakers can only take 2 ohms that it'll sound like crap. Ur sure i can just put the aftermarket headunit in and have it play just fine?? Thanks!

First off, it is "you're" or "you are", not "Ur." If you want us to take you seriously and answer your questions intelligently, treat us with intelligence+respect and forgo the teeny-bop hip SMS message lingo.

Secondly, the Bose system in the coupe is not 2 ohms @ every speaker. In fact, I believe the fronts are 4 ohm.

Third, you do not want to power the stock Bose speakers directly from the aftermarket HU. The Bose speakers sound even worse (if that is even possible) when not being powered off of the stock Bose amplifier. This is because the Bose amp. does EQing that makes these paper tiger speakers sound like a "premium" sound system. Running the stock speakers off of your aftermarket HU's internal amp denies them of this EQ curve, and it sounds awful. I ran the Bose speakers off of a JL 500/5 for about 2 weeks - worst 2 weeks of my life

My suggestion would be to convert the preamp out on the aftermarket HU into speaker wire outputs, and try connecting those to the input wires going into the stock Bose amp (that used to connect to the stock HU before you pulled it out). I do not know what is involved in this, however, as I would assume you would need to match voltages.
