I put XM in mine about 4 months ago I got the new small ant. I wanted to try and hide it or paint it. The installer said you can't mount it inside because of the tint (even OEM) and it can't be painted to match because the metal flake in the paint would scew up the signal. I mounted mine on the trunk close to the window just so it wouldn't be as noticable but it still looks like a friggin wart But overall not bad compared to the "hockey puck" they had before.

Only if its metallic tint; ceramic or the plastic film tint still works. Some people have the part of the window above the sat antenna tinted differently.

You can paint it yourself with non-metallic paint, you can get close enough to where it looks alot better than the puck. I've seen a few people who have sent it to a body shop to be painted and it looks perfect.

Cool thanks for the info. My tint is metallic. But the paint thing sounds like the way to go.
