It's not that much more expensive at this time, I'm sure. It used to be that blue LEDs were much more expensive than red. Now they aren't that much more.

I think the reason is that many feel that blue is so much cooler that red, and Escort knows that there are those that are willing to pay a premium or this!

Exclamation No probs NOW....

I had the problem of the Laser going off when I started the car, but it was not "hard wired". After I "Hard wired" it, no problems. I suspect you are geting a voltage drop when the wipers are used.

Another thought, auto wipers (detect rain) MAY use an infa red LED to detect it. This may cause the problem.

I also have the x50 and haven't had any troubles either. Also, for keeping an eye on voltage, turn on the expertmeter or whatever it is called, and activate the voltage display.

The 8500 is reported to be the best on the market.. Thats weird that they are having similar problems unless they are hard wired. Seems to me that the single point of failure is tha cigarette lighter plug. Have you contacted Passport?

My x50 has been pissing me off lately. I'm on my third one and really starting to get angry. First one which lasted me 7 months started to go into Self Calibration Mode almost every day. Obviously not right, I returned it to Best Buy under my product replacement plan and exchanged it for a new one.

Well.... That one only lasted 5 hrs before I got the fckin "Service Required" message. So now I'm on my third x50, hoping it lasts. No worries though. I got the product replacement plan again so if it fcks up, Best Buy will be getting another one back.
