Sat Radio Installation On Long Island

I just received the XM sat radio that I ordered from everything G35 at the "special" price. I thought I would install it myself since my coupe is prewired, but I concerned about damaging the window gasket. Can anyone reccomend an istaller on Long Island? Thanks

Infiniti dealers do the roof-install. I would personally ditch the ulgy roof install and do the slick rear-deck install. You put the antenna on the rear-deck in place of the child seat anchor it takes only 30 minutes; do some forum searches for more info. I am going to post some pictures of my install this week.

I can't help with info for a good installer, but have you thought about placing the antenna on the rear deck?? If you place it there, you can do the entire install yourself. I used the velcro and sponge tape it came with and some of my own twisty ties to securely attach the XM tuner above the amp. For the coupe, just remove the trunk mat/board and spare tire, then remove the plastic piece on the driver's side to get access to the amp.

Attach the antenna wire and run it through the rearseat passthrough to the rear deck. Test out how well it works for you before permanently attaching the antenna there. You may get some interference if you have metallic tint, but I have had no problems so far. It has also been suggested to place a small piece of sheet metal (steel not aluminum) under the antenna to improve reception, but I haven't tried this yet. It will readily stick since the antenna is magnetic. Can use velcro or double sided tape to more permanently attach the antenna/sheet metal to the rear deck.

Thanks-- It seems like the rear deck install makes this a much easier job. I did a portable install in my wife's TL, but didn't get good reception with a deck antenna. Since you guys have had some good luck in the G, I'll give it a shot.

i don't know how long the wiring is that came with the antenna, but the best place for the antenna would probably be right where the stock GPS antenna is located (inside the top of the dash, inside the trim piece around the clock)

the antenna can work thru plastic so being in there would be totally hidden and still get a better view of the sky than the rear deck IMO

The roof install is pretty easy. I did mine in about 1 hour. It's pretty impossible to hurt the window gasket when running the wire. The only sketchy part is grinding the notch to run the wire.

Thanks or the input. You gave me the confidence to install myself. I did the antenna on the package shelf--it works fine.

If you have problems, try AUDIO DESIGNS on Newbridge Road in Hicksville. They are right across from the Broadway Mall/Ikea. They do very nice work!
