Front speaker foam thickness

Install experts....

Assuming one was to use a 1" spacer ring for the speakers on the front doors. How thick of a foam weather strip will be needed to seal the face of the spacer ring to the backside of the door panel?

1" spacer sounds about right. I used the OEM speaker frames for the spacers so the distance and alignement weren't a problem. I used some medium density 1/2' x 1/2" foam.

You can easily check for alignment and compression by popping out the window controls and looking down with a flashlight while pushing the door panel in place. At least on the 04's you could.

From looking at mine (3/4" spacers) I really think the 1" spacers would allow a good seal just using the oem foam on the door panels. Make sure you align the speaker perfectly so that the door panel edges don't hit your speaker. Good luck!

I have 1" thick mdf spacers and it places my Infinity Kappa's right up against the foam gasket on the door panel.

I also agree with paul18t. Proper alignment is key.
