Valentine 1: In-Dash Installation
I had the Valentine 1 remote display face-mounted on the ashtray. The nice thing about this installation is the easy access to the mute button from the stick shift.

Beautiful - now that's the kind of mod I like to see. It looks like a factory installation. I'm going order a spare ash tray right now to do this same mod with my V1 remote. What did you do on the inside of the ash tray to hold the remote unit in place? Could you shoot a photo looking inside?

Re: Valentine 1: In-Dash Installation
I had the unit installed for $80 CDN, or around $60 US for my fortunate neighbours. The install took about 2 hours. The installer used some sort of black adhesive on the inside to hold the unit in place, there is no give at all when you push on the unit. The ashtray does not open, which was a little disappointing, the installer told me he chose to do this because the unit was binding against the top of the tray. A dremel was used to cut the hole in the tray and then flat file to perfect the fit.
Larry, when you order the spare ashtray cover -- and you may only be able to order the lower console -- can you apprise us of the part number and cost.
Thanks,
Jay

Re: Valentine 1: In-Dash Installation
I think it's only illegal in Ontario and one other province to have a RD. Valentine is not able to ship to a province nor state where they are illegal, so you'll have to ship it to someone you know.
Yes, the ON police have RD detectors to which the V-1 is invisible. I believe they also have one or two of the new units which can pick up the V-1 and most other 'invisible' detectors, but Valentine is currently working on a fix the last I heard.

Re: Valentine 1: In-Dash Installation
I don't want to hijack this thread, but I have a question regrading sensor placement. I thought I saw an application of the Valentine 1 model that allowed you to install exterior radar/laser sensors at the front and rear of your car?? I would need something like this due to the fact thaty I have metallic tinted windows. Any advice? TIA
