Back Seat Amp Mounting Idea..worked for me
Back Seat Amp Mounting Idea..worked for me
Fiberglass box is done and installed (pics later)....ahhhh resin
My JBL BP1200 was just lying in the trunk for now, because in the spring I’m ripping everything out for my AVIC-D1 install. So instead of screwing the amp to the back seat. The Amp & cap are already screwed to a carpeted board from it’s previous home (my 95 Eclipse GSX..sold *sniff*)
So I did this... we have good 1.5 inches behind the back seat and the trunk access hole, I took a 1" thin but strong piece of wood and screwed it to the back of the carpeted amp board. Here’s my high tech CAD drawing.

Then you close the back seat and all you see through the access hole is the amp and board, nice and clean and no screwing to the seat back. If you need to put big stuff in the trunk you can lower the back seat move the amp aside. I think I’m going to do this for my big install in Spring.

Hey Shooter,
Your grounding info from the other post was great, I regrounded my amp to the stud on the trunk bottom (sanding of course first) Much better ground.
I'll try to get some pics tommorow to post.
Thanks!

Here are a couple of pics. My Fiberglas sub box, first time ever playing w/ fiberglass. I'm very happy with the build, finish and sound quality
houses a Infinity Kappa Perfect 12".
and the second pic is my temp amp mount solution, that works prety well. With the back seat closed it holds it pretty secure

They're the crossovers for Focal Utopia's which are speakers. The only amp shown is the Zapco.
