Remote Starter Info/Help

I know there are some threads about the remote starter but I'm still a little confused. I have an '04 5AT with no alarm. I want to know if you have to do some kind of wiring in the drivers door if you don't have an alarm. I don't want an alarm unless it uses the OEM key FOB (but even then i still dont want one). Is there anyway of doing this w/o voiding the warranty?

Also, is there a way of modding the OEM key FOB to make the windows go up in addition to them going down?

Any information is appreciated.

To answer your first question, yes you have to go into the drivers door but its any easy hookup of only two wires (four if you want the window roll-up). Secondly, why would you want to keep the OE keyfob when the range is horrible compared to a decent aftermarket alarm like the 791XV. Im not sure about the warranty, but I remember reading somewhere the a RS/Alarm should not void the warranty. And about the 791XV in the 6sp, I would advise against it, in fact its ilegal. I would go for something like the Compustar or other Remote Starts that are made for Manual Trans cars.

Ok, I saw the VIPER 791XV and I def. like it. Does anyone know how much installation costs? Or if it voids the warranty or causes and flooding damage in the door? Thanks.

Did you see the VIPER 791XV in real life? For me the remote looked nice on screen but in real life just looked silly to me. You should get the install done from wherever you buy the kit from as it may save you a bit of cash that way. Just make sure that when they install it they DO NOT cut into the wiring harness as that will void your warranty. I'm planning to also buy a remote start (probably the Viper 571xv or the equivalent python (same thing)) so tha t I can hack the remote and have a cellphone module that I can call up and have it remote start that way.
