What makes BOSE sounds so bad?

I have 06 coupe with BOSE. Even with Kappa’s on front, it does not sound good, too boomy and hard.
Recently I drove 05 sedan without BOSE and I would say its sound a little better then BOSE in my coupe. Why is that? Is BOSE amp that bed? Or I need also replace what BOSE call subs?

Two pieces:

1. The Bose amp places heavily equalization on its outputs. So if you simply replace the OE speakers with Kappas or whatever, you just have a more expensive speaker playing the same crappy equalized signals.

2. The stock head unit (clarion) is crappy. When you get up past a volume of around 20ish, it rolls the volume and bass off to "protect" the speakers from being blown. The internal processor sucks. If you fade the deck completely to the front you get distortion.

All in all, the system in its entirety "works" because of the little games each piece places with one another. Break it apart, and it only gets worse.

I would answer differently.

The Bose system sounds the way it does because:

1) The speakers are crap. Bose is attractive to carmakers because there isn't much cost per car.

2) The amp is low power... which could be an issue when the EQ asks for more power, but in general it's a low-power, high-distortion amp.

3) THe HU isn'tgreat, but it's not terrible.

How long have you been deaf? J/K , Honestly to each their own! Many people who post here don't like it. In the loaner car I had, 05 sedan non Blose actually sounded better to me but was not as loud. In this case I would take the non Blose. I ditched everything but the head unit in my car. It is all about personal choices

I was trying really not to offend you but state here in the AV section specifically, most people would not have wanted to pay for the Blose system if it wasn't forced on them with a package.

People have different tastes. So for example you may not like massive bass or maybe you do, there is no wrong or right. The sounds produced by the Blose may just tickle your fancy. I am envious because you have not had to spend anywhere from 2 to 10 or 20 Grand getting it right for you. I feel that the almost 1g I had to pay for the OEM Blose was waste.

Lastly IMHO the Blose set up in the G is probably the worst Blose I have ever heard. Being 50 I have heard a few over the years.

Again these are opinions, no wrong or right.

Take poll if you like but still no wrong or right.
