OEM nav worth it?

Alright so heres the deal im going to be buying a G35 coupe in about a week or so; Possibly. The Navi unit is so cool but its going to run me another 3-4k in the 04 that i'm looking at. I guess my question is is the navi REALLY worth it??? I mean I work at Circuit City and can get a 2-din navi unit for good money. Aren't there a lot more options open with an aftermarket navi? like adding PS2 or a DVD player etc?

Thanks in advance guys and girls.

For me, it wasn't worth the $1800 difference in the new car price. Poor user interface (no touch or voice).

If you have to pay another $3k-$4k, there's no way it's worth it. Especially if you work where you can get a discount on car video equipment.

The way I see it, all you need to do is imagine what kind of system you can get for $4k. I'd guess an AVN 5435 + DD Conversion + iPod controls + steering wheel controls + headrest monitors + sub + amps + rear camera + bluetooth for your phone + gaming + some other goodies. If this system cost the same as the OEM navi, why wouldn't you go aftermarket? Maybe enough left over for five or six lapdances.

well I say 3-4k because I saw an 04 G35c for like 28-29k and then the same car w\ the nav is 32k... Another question is what does the premium package offer?? and performance wheels and tires packages is just the 18 inch wheels?

Used car list prices are all over the place and not very meaningful. You shouldn't be paying for than 1-2k for a car with a navi. You just have to negotiate. Thats what I did.

Some people leave the factory navi and install a DD-system. That way they can have the map up and a DVD playing full screen. Otherwise its a personal preference. If you don't get the factory navi you will not have the mpg screen. If your area demands a 3-4k premium for a used navi I would skip it. Otherwise, when you negotiate on a navi car always act like you don't care about the navi and focus on something less significant about the car that sets it apart like the color. If you are buying from a Infiniti dealer expect to pay another 3 grand for the car over other places.

On used cars you have to focus on what the car is actually worth not what the morons try to list it for. I have walked into places when they had list prices as high as 33k and tell them I will only pay 26k. They wine and moan sometimes even get angry; you will be surprised how much the price will come down when you find someone willing to work with you.

Don't look at cars without the premium package. Its the same package thats on all the new G35's. Look it up on edmunds.com. Without the package you don't get basic things like auto-lamps or the xeons among many other things.
