stereo & remote start install this week

I'm taking the 2006 G sedan in for "upgrades" today. I'm keeping the stock head unit and adding...

(2) JL Audio 12w6, ported in a custom box
JL Audio 1000/1 running the subs
JL speakers in the doors and tweets
JL Audio 300/4 running mids & highs
Zapco SP4 EQ in the nav/storage location
adding iPod hook-up, probably a PAC unit
capacitor
red top

adding remote start to the Infiniti key fob

Gonna try and order wheels tomorrow too, RH Evo J8 bronze

Couple of questions...why add remote starter to stock fob? the range would put me off, are you replacing stock battery with red top? I would rather add yellow top as second battery, what kind of JL speakers? ZR's? XR's?, also I would've gone with 500/1 and use the extra money on something else but that just me

Sounds like a pretty decent setup - what mids and highs are you using?

Any reason you are going JL instead of Zapco on the amps?

I already have equipment from my 300ZX I'm trading in...(2) JL Audio 10w3v2, 6x9s, 500/1. I also have the 300/4, Zapco EQ, and cap that I will re-use. I haven't decided on the ZRs or XR but I think I'll want the ZRs being as the bass may be to deep and the mids and highs may not be up to par.

As far as the key fob goes, I haven't committed fully to the programmed Infiniti fob. I may end up with a pager set-up. I have it on my Armada (wife's ride) and she/we are happy with it. For the most part, I'll tell my installer what I want it to do and he'll advise me. I trust him. I just dropped it off tonight and he'll call me Wednesday to discuss options.

Probably going to use JL ZR mids and highs, also considering Infinitys and MB Quart.

I'm happy with the JL amps I already have.

I'll leave the battery decision to my installer. I have a red top in my Max and a yellow in my Z.

Oh, I forgot. The cap doesn't help JL "slash" amps a dam bit. If you use it it's for the car only, and with an Optima I suspect it won't help.

Slash amps have fully regulated power supplies.

update

Here's the latest, my stereo guy and installer are going to install

(2) JL Audio 12w6 in a custom ported box powered by a JL Audio 1000/1 with the stock sub removed for a little more air flow into the cabin

MB Quart Q series components (Q216 I think, 6.5s and tweets) in each door powered by a JL Audio 450/4

Zapco SP4 EQ in either in the nav storage compartment or possibly in the middle storage compartment (TBD)

20 farad cap, new Stinger 1000 battery under the hood, Stinger 800 in the trunk for the amps

They will also add an input for my iPod and will keep the bluetooth function and will finish off the trunk nicely so it's not just a box in the trunk., they're even going to add an Infiniti log to the finshed panel.

Today they installed a Clifford remote start and pager system. I was going to have them program the key fob for remote start but I wanted the pager anyways.

BTW, the installer says he's not impressed with the ZR series JL components. Any thoughts on those who have heard them?

The remote start that you are adding to the Key FOB is it the Intelligent Key system. I wanted to add a remote start to my G35x but I have the intellingent key system and didn't know if it would work. And if it did work i didn't want to carry the intelligent key transmitter and the remote starter transmitter. I would like to just carry around the 1 transmitter which is the intelligent key transmitter with the remote start inside the transmitter. Just wondering what your setup is like for the remote start system and key FOB.

I'm not using the fob for remote start. I'm using the pager system which has its own remote used to display alarm status and staring the vehicle.

The other option I was considering was programming the key fob to press the lock button 3 times to remote start the vehicle.

I had the remote starter installed along with a custom stereo setup. The installers are still doing minor adjustments and touches. I'll have to wait until I get back from vacation to get it completed.

(2) JL 12v6 - JL 1000/1
MB Quart Q series components in each door powered by a JL 450/4. I sat in the car and listened to the compnents before the subs were installed. Outstanding sound quality from these components.
Zapco SP4 in the storage above the glove box
20 farad cap
Stinger 800 in the trunk
Stinger 1000 under the hood.

I'm quite happy with the install. The installer even put a light Infinit logo on the box between the subs. THIS CAR THUMPS NOW! I kept the stock HU. I still have bluetooth and steering controls. I didn't get the iPod hookup and I'm waiting to see what bluetooth stereos come out this year.
