More info needed
The audio gurus are going to need more information about the rest of the system in your car. Speakers, HU, amps. The factory stuff can't go down as deep as good aftermarket components for example, so you might have to raise your Xover freq some to not have a hole in response.

sorry, should have been alittle more specific. i currently have a set of Polk db6500 comps being powered by the Bose amp (soon to be replaced with a JL 300/2 or 300/4... and maybe a set of DLS comps) for the front stage
the 500/1 is tapped off of the outputs from the stock headunit before the Bose amp (spliced in via twisted pair RCAs). i'm getting bass from the 10w6v2, but it's not hitting nearly as hard as it should be.
i work as a DJ on weekends, most of the time with massive sound systems (1000w double 18 sub cabinets and 800w 2way tops) so with those i have a "feel" for where i need to be setting my crossovers and my signal processors. 12v audio is a new field for me. i can't seem to get the JL 10" to sound as good as i know it should though. (i previously had a pair of 10w3v2's, and they hit pretty hard and clean)
finally, i might as well note that i listen to alot of light club music (nothing too crazy like tribal or hard house), and i also listen to alot of Dave Matthews and similar stuff, so i want the JL give a nice tight thump... i'm not big into hip hop where it sounds like a digitally created bass FART every time

Well, as you probably already know, the Bose paperback book amp does not have nearly enough beans for your components to do what they are capable of.
All that being said, it sounds like you need to raise the gain on your 500/ amp some. Try starting with the xover at 50 Hz or so. First get the gain where you want it and then play with the xover to fine tune.
Also, it's known that the stock HU has a fairly flat output until around indicated 20 on the display, then the bottom starts rolling off slowly to protect the system. So, plan on your max volume being in the 20-23 range. Last but not least, the trunk open/shut makes a difference in what you will hear in the cabin.

And where do you have your signal tapped before or after factory amp?

now for the sound, i'm still tweaking things. i think my problem is that i listen to too many different styles of music, and i can't get it into a good compromise for all of them.
btw, anyone doubting the usefulness of sound deadener, i did my entire trunk (while it was gutted changing systems) and there is virtually NO rattle or vibration now from my trunk. my previous setup (pair of JL 10w3v2's, pre-deadening) used to vibrate the **** outta my trunk
