IdMax or JL..HELP me with my setup!
Ive been doing alot of reading..
I just ordered my 4080 box, and am leaning towards the set up that everyone has.
Here are some possible configs.. help me figure the best out. I listen to mainly R&B and RAP, some pop. For now, staying stock 06 premium system.
I like bass, but I like clean bass, no distortion.
10" sub of course in the 4080, and Extreme Dynamat in the trunk all around prior to install.
#1. JL W3 with a 250/1
#2 JL W6 with a 250/1
#3 JL W6 with a 500/1
#4 Image Dynamics ID MAX 10 v.3 D2, with a 500/1

W6 w/500/1 or IDMAX w/500/1. I personally would go with the IDMAX. I love my JL, but the IDMAX is a GREAT sub. I don't know if it fits in the 4080 though, and you need to check on the recommended enclosure volume for that.
4080's 10" enclosure has .85 cu. ft. of air space, plenty of space for either of the JL subs; maybe too much air space depending on the response you are trying to achieve.

I had wanted to go with the IDMAX in a 4080 enclosure. I don't think there is enough depth to accommodate the IDMAX while retaining the 4080 grill. I was resigned to using a 3/4" mdf spacer and alternate grill. The volume is a little small for the IDMAX but it'll do. Anyone interested in buying my used IDMAX12 D2 v.3?
Correction: Recommended volume for the IDMAX is 0.6-0.9 cu. ft. in a sealed enclosure. 4080 Enclosure is 0.85 cu. ft. Driver displacement is 0.1 cu. ft. Net internal volume is 0.75 cu ft. which is right in the middle of the recommended volume range. With the spacer, it should net out around 0.8 cu. ft.
