Which Head-Unit do you guys like the best

I am in the market for a Double Din Head Unit and was wondering what brand and model you guys like the best. I realize that it's all a matter of opinion but if you could give some supporting info that would be much appreciated. Also what is the cheapest I could get the Kit from Japan that is required to install the head-unit. Thanks very much.

I like the Eclipse 2-DINs. I hear the Alpine 2-DIN is nice for iPods but has no hi-voltage output. The existing Pioneers don't either, but the Z1 might when it launches...

^+1 for eclipse.

El_Duderino can get you a good deal on the HU. (and he is an authorized dealer)

The best price on the Double Din Kit is at Grubbs (a sponsor of this site). But they only have the Brushed Aluminum finish. For a little more $$$ Yoshi at J's Garage can get you the kit in any finish you need. You can find info on contacting him by searching I don't have the info on hand.

Of course, I wouldn't sell Eclipse online in any violation of their dealer agreements.

But you can email me at g35driver at avincar dot com if you have any questions.

I just got an eclipse avn5500. There are several guys on this forum that are authorized Eclipse dealers; hit up any of them for pricing.

I've been happy with my Pioneer Avic D1. I have no experience with the Eclipse or Alpine units but the sound quality with the Pioneer is way better than stock. I am looking forward to the release of the Avic Z1.

I have the Eclipse AVN 5495 with the 30GB HD and I love it! The nav is so much faster than my friend's 5435 and it has more search features. The best bang for the buck will be the 6600 when it comes out. That way you can still watch movies and have nav like the HD ones but for less money and it has the new 75' range selection.

Grubbs Infiniti Performance in Texas has good pricing on the DD kit and they stock them.

The price is good but they definitely don't stock them....email yosi@j-garage.com he has them in stock takes about 7 business days to get here from Japan.

Eclipse AVN FTW hands down. My customers also choose it 20-1 over the others.

grubbsperformance.com is where mine came from, its hit and miss though as they sometimes have em in stock. ALOT cheaper than Yoshi.
