Eclipse AVN5435 - Does your navi voice turn down the volume?

when you guys use your voice guidance on the navi does the system turn down the music before it starts talking? Mine just talks over the music at whatever volume it is playing at, i have to turn it down manually.

Is this the way it is designed or is something not hooked up right?

my first generastion AVN just mutes the driver-side speaker (front-left)... you can adjust the volume of the voice guidance by going into the navi menu, i usually keep it at 2 or 3, i think 3 is default...

sorry I wanted to know if it only mutes when she is actually giving guidance or the whole time that you are in an active route, like it stays muted between her directions.

sorry for confusion, as obviously my active volume control isn't and never has been working I don't know exactly how this unit deals with the muting. thanks

Here's how the Nav mute function works with my OEM Bose setup:

1. The muting only occurs when then Nav voice is explicity speaking.

2. Muting only applies to the (a) front speakers, and (b) the Bose woofer speaker on the rear deck. The rear door speakers in my sedan remain on.
