I may be having the dreaded speaker issue. My drivers side has now gone out twice. I'm not sure if it's definately the known issue with our stock HUs, but I'm mentally and emotionally preparing myself for this possibility. If I determine it IS the stupid issue with our stock HUs, I am fairly certain I do not want to fool with it /w the dealer, I'd rather just use it as an excuse to go aftermarket.

In an effort to prepare my wallet and my soul for this pain, I'm trying to get an idea of some possible afternarket HUs.

I'm installing an extensive carPC setup. Screen is a DigitalWheelz screen that comes out of the stock Nav. cubby. PC will do DVD, nav, mp3s, XM, internet and a host of other things.

While I think the looks of the D1s, Z1s, etc, look really nice, they would largely be useless for my situation, as I have all of their functionality (and more) in my carPC setup.

Does anyone have any recommendations on a stock-looking (not stock-looking like it looks like the stock HU, but stock looking like it belongs in the G35 [in other words, I don't want some tokyo night life sony xplod HU]) aftermarket HU? Again, NOT looking to spend tons of cash on an HU that replicates my carPC setup.

Oh and I NEED to keep the steering wheel controls operable.
