Eclipse has a new 2006 version update Navigation Disk out for their AVN series Nav Systems.

It looks like a great upgrade... scale is now 75 feet compared to the previous 150 feet... better details... more points of interest.

The only negative issue is that the maps are still from December 2004. "Map data compiled December 04" I've never heard or a Nav Disk upgrade with the same maps. Am I missing something here? I'm sure the better detail makes it better than the Nav Disk that came with our systems, but I don't think I'd pay a whole lot for that alone.

Has anyone upgraded to the new disk yet? Any idea how expensive it is?

 

I called my stereo shop and asked about buying one of these update CDs. They said that Eclipse charges over $300 for replacement disks, so this would be the same.

I can't believe that an upgrade to a new disk that does not have new map data would be over $300.

Could one of you Eclipse vendors find out what this upgrade CD actually costs?
