yes it will fit, sorry thats the only help I can offer.

DIN is an industry standard sizing. Any double din will fit...

That being said, most installers have found that re-drilling the holes will give a more flush and asthetically pleasing appearance...

the AVIC-Z1 will fit the double din opening. like G35Mass said, it's a standard size. HOWEVER... if you use the factory mounting holes for the unit it won't fit right... see this thread on My350z.

I have one in my '04 sedan. I used the bracket that the BOSE was attached too and it really couldn't fit any better. There is about a 2mm gap at the top of the unit, 3-4mm at the bottom, and 1mm at each side. I did however have to trim the plastic trim panel that came with the Z1 so it would fit on the Z1's face behind the double din panel. The trim piece that came with the Z1 is nothing like the one that came with the D1. It's kinda hard to explain. I'll see if my brother can get some pics since I'm working in Houston this week and my car is back home in Florida. It definitely fits and looks good too.

that's odd... why is there more space on the bottom than on top?

i also didn't know that the button panel on the bottom actually sticks out past the face... that's the first time i've seen a side profile of it

The bottom panel jutting out was a little wierd to me until I installed it. The whole unit is inset a bit so the button panel ends up sticking out just a hair past the DD trim panel. The pictures kinda exagerrate that and the gap on the bottom of the unit. From the drivers seat it looks pretty good. Modifying the bracket to move the unit down would have been too much of a pain. I just used the existing holes for the BOSE (I was only able to use 3 of the 4 holes per side, the 4th hole doesnt mate to anything on the Z1).

As far as the picture goes, it's just as clear as the D1/D2 but the menus have more detail and depth to them. The touchscreen is also very responsive, the touch is just right in my opinion. I'll post pics of the unit turned on after I get back Friday night.

I was going to get the D2 but the Z1 offered 2 things that I really wanted that the D2 doesn't do:

1. full function Bluetooth capability
2. full Ipod integration (the D1/D2 used the external interface that only displays the first 8 characters of the song title)

The harddrive and larger screens were bennies...
