Help with Pac Swi-ps

I'm in the process of install my D1. I can't quite figure out how to install the steering wheel interface (pac swi-ps). Does anyone have a DIY guide? Any help will be appreciated.

Do a search. I did a full writeup on how to wire this device up. It's pretty straightforward.

Eh whatever, I'll be nice... here it is...

Here is the deal... there is no need to get behind the steering wheel at all.

Here is a link to the installation instructions for the PAC SWI-PS

http://www.pac-audio.com/instructions/SWI-PS.pdf

And another useful link...

http://www.pac-audio.com/swixprogram...ehicles&ID=207

I will give you a quick synopsis of the wiring below:

A. There are two sides of wires in the PAC. One side has just an output with an 1/8" plug on the end. That plugs directly into the back of your Pioneer head unit. Simple enough.

B. The other side of the PAC has a bunch of wires. Here is what you will use...

1. Black - Connect it to Ground
2. Red - Switched 12V (ACC)
3. White wire - More description to follow

C. Ok the White wire is the last wire on the PAC you need to mess with.

1. Split the white wire so it is two White wires.
2. On each of the white wires you will insert an inline resistor. One wire needs the 47 ohm resistor, the other wire needs the 150 ohm resistor.

D. Connecting to the appropriate harness...

Here is a picture of the harness that you will be connecting the white wires to... (Connector viewed from pin side not wire side)

1. Connect the wire with the inline 47 ohm resistor to Pin 22. I just use tap in connectors to tap to the wire itself.

2. Connect the wire with the inline 150 ohm resistor to Pin 23.

3. Finally GROUND pin 25.

Now all you need to do is follow the programming instructions to program the PAC and you should be all set!

http://www.pac-audio.com/instructions/SWI-PS.pdf

Good luck!

thanx for the great writeup. but i still can't get it to work. please help!!!

I got everything connected and i was able to do the first step to set the version on the Pac, but it won't let me program any of the buttons. Its almost like its not reading any of the inputs off the harness. i really don't want to take the stereo out to make this work, but i want my steering wheel control to work. By the way, i am installing a D3

No, the resistors can go in either direction. Just make sure you have the correct two resisors and that they are connected to the correct wires.

The plug is one of the 4 that are plugged into the back of the OEM radio.
