Question System Pricing Help?

I was the previous owner of a 2004 5AT Black Coupe which had numerous mods, mainly stereo modifications. I had a system consisting of a Kenwood DDX7015, one JL Audio 500/1, a JL Audio 300/4, a Stinger 1 Farad Cap, a JL Audio 10w7 in a custom built box, Boston Acoustic Pro 6.5 Components in the front, JL Audio XR 650-CSI for the rear, and all Stinger wire kits for everything (0 gauge and 4 gauge I believe they were). I just recently bought a 2006 6MT fully loaded with Nav and I dont think I am going to put my system into the new car cause I dont wanna mess up my Nav or lose Bluetooth compatability. Even though the Bose sounds nowhere near as good as the previously mentioned system but oh well. But anyways my question is how much do you think I should ask for the whole system, since I now plan on selling it. Everything is in mint condition and was in the car for less than a year. I had it installed by a very reputable shop on Long Island and have all the original receipts for everything from the shop. The total with labor and everything was around $5,000. If anyone is also interested in buying it with a serious offer lemme know, if not please give me an idea of what the system is worth cause I have one possible buyer locally (Long Island). I figure if I sell this stuff I can get some nice new rims fro my 06.

what i usually do is check prices on ebay to see the market rate and then price down slightly from that since ebay items are sometimes new but they give you an idea of what the asking price is.

The least you could do without messing anything up on your '06 is to switch out the front comps and the rear coaxs if nothing else. Bluetooth won't be affected unless you pull the HU and I don't see how anything you have will affect the nav. Are you on a lease or a buy with the '06? Perhaps this is the reason you are wanting to get rid of all this good gear?

what does the custom box look like? just curious.

if you don't wanna mess with the OEM headunit and bluetooth, you can still install all the gear you have relatively pain free (except for the DDX). i've heard from a few people that i consider to be experts that the signal being put out by the OEM headunit is actually not too bad, and the Bose amp is what does all the processing of the signal and kills the sound.

the JL amps can take the differential balanced inputs directly from the lines running between the headunit and Bose amp in the trunk. your sub box and speakers should still fit b/c there haven't been any design changes to the trunk area or inner door panels. installation shouldn't cost too much b/c you already have all the gear, and the custom work (like the sub box) is already done.

basically a shop would have to run power line to trunk, tap into signal wiring and speaker wires at bose amp, swap the 4 interior speakers, mount your box, and set the gains. i can't see that costing more than a few hundred at most and you will have a MUCH better sounding setup than right now. plus, if you sell the DDX, you probably wont have to take a dime out of your pocket for the install.

Realistically you will get about 50% of what you paid for the equipment. Warranty has expired and labor doesn't count. I think you could get $200 for each amp & $200 for the sub. I'm not sure what the other speakers and HU wouldl sell for. The cap may fetch about $50. The box is a huge variable not having seen a pic of it. It's probably only useful to another G coupe owner. If you sold all of it together, I would guess it would go for about $1250 (half of you $5000 receipt probably being labor, leaving $2500 and another 50% mark down leaving $1250).

No, I am not leasing the 06 I bought it. And the total labor for everything was probably only around $1200 or so. Most of the money was the actual parts themselves. As you prolly know JL amps, a 10w7, and the speakers I got are pretty expensive stuff. I just dont know if I really wanna go the route of adding all that extra weight again (from the box, subs, amps, dynamat, etc.) So thats why I was thinking of selling it, plus I think I wanna get some nice new rims, I am in love with the Black Maya RT5's with the chrome lip.

Hmm... in that case, I don't see why you won't put all your good stuff into your new car. How much faster do you expect to go with your car? Not to mention if you are so picky on weight, oversized chrome lipped wheels would be out of the question. :P

Maybe if you put in your BA Pros upfront, sell your JL coaxials and empty out the rears. Hookup the rest and you can save about 8-10lbs in speakers, crossovers, and associated wiring over your old install. LOL Should improve your power/weight ratio by .000001%.

Realistically, as stated above, selling your gear will be a net loss in my opinion since you won't be able to get much past 50% of the street price. I also have a 10W7 and it's badass. I can't even imagine going back without one. Then again, the first mod I did was to redo the audio in my car so that pretty much shows where I stand on this.

Good Luck!
