track day advice

OK, I just had my first autox event in my G (no track near me unfortunately) and had a few questions. BTW, I have no idea what I'm talking about so alot of this will probably seem extremely obvious to yall. First, do yall left foot brake? Because in my 6MT sedan I barely have room to get my feet on the gas and brake simulataneously even at a stop, so do I just have to practice or is it a common problem? I guess thats by design or heel toeing would be impossible, but left foot braking also makes another problem- my body weight is thrown off center and when combined with the rather large seats for my size, I have some serious problems staying put. Second, whats the easiest way to stop serious understeer? Is it easiest to just brake sooner, trail brake, throttle steer, or something else I dont know of? I'll have more probably, but I'll leave it here for now. Thanks alot.

Brake? What's that? J/K If I could ever learn how to left foot brake, I believe it's quicker but I actually do more with feathering the throttle than braking. Most autocross course have two spots to brake, the first turn and the last turn. Everything else is just panic. (My experience). It's funny though, to wear a helmet and clear the roof, I have to recline the seat somewhat. I never noticed moving around in the seat. I am 6'2" and 205 lbs.

Oh, yeah....have you checked with the local SCCA chapter? I'll bet there are events near you. Try www.myautoevents.com
