Just curious...last time I used my ATV/dirt bike helmet, I took off the visor 'cause I couldn't fit inside my Coupe with the visor on. I was looking at "race car" helemts on line, lots of choices.

Aria. It's lighter and smaller than my previous bell. Plus, for my head shape the Aria fits better and is more comfortable.

Got mine here: http://www.pyrotect.com/home.php

They're basically Bell helmets, only cheaper.

I bought a Bell M2 a couple of years ago. It's a bit on the heavy side, but it has a larger eyeport (which I like) and it fits me well.

One other thing to think about. Believe me, I'll buy just about anything online, but a helmet is something I feel you should buy locally. The main reason is that you really want a helmet that fits your own head, and that's something the online specs can't tell you. And trying on helmets locally, then ordering online isn't a guarantee, either. When I was trying on helmets, even helmets that were the same model and size felt different on my head.

Plus, it never hurts to have a contact at your local motorsports store.

I use a Bieffe, I think F1. Something like that, it's a few years old, their basic model.

Arai GP5K.

Get the lightest most comfortable helmet you can afford (if you have a $50 head, get a $50 helmet). If you hit a wall, a 1 lb difference in the weight of the helmet can translate into 50 lbs with the G forces. That's 50 additional lbs trying to separate your skull from your spinal cord.

I started off with a $100 bell and made my way up the spending ladder as my speeds increased. But my main motivation for getting better helmets (besides safety) is comfort. I had a helmet I purchased online. After 10 minutes I wanted/needed to take the helmet off. It was not comfortable and this would bother me during the entire session.

I would definitely buy from a brick and mortor or atleast test fit there and then order online. Most things can be purchased online with little to no ill effect, but helmets, shoes and the like, in my humble opinion, need a good old fashioned store purchase.

The problem with trying at a local store then buying online is that the local store isn't going to be able to stay around. Then you won't even have a place to try them on. I think, personally, if you are trying products at a store and you find one you really like, you should play the extra... after all you got the extra service of fitting that online does not offer.

I use the Bell M3 and like it a lot.
Agree with the other lads, buy it local. Try them on to get the best fit. It really matters. There are lots of places to save money. But getting cheap with a helmet is the one thing that everybody should agree is never to be done. Your brain is just too important.
