Wher do you stand at AutoX?
I been doing autoX in the G for the 2nd year now and i have to say that although a heavy turd, this car can still hold its own.
My question to the guys that AutoX especially those with 5AT, how do you do compare to others. I know its a hard question to answer since all other cars you run against are different and have different mods, but overall from the best person to where you are ... how do you count yourself.
Out of all the runs i did this year, only one time did i see another G at the event. The guy was a novice and had pretty much a brand new car. So he didnt even push it. So i'm stuck trying to compete and compare myself against evo's and sti's, m3s and other more competitive cars.
I am fairly lightly moded. I run sway bars as the only means for suspension mods and stickier tiers. Engine mods are catless, y-pipe, exhaust and plenum spacer. I dynoed at only 223whp.
The crazy part is that i'm trying to push myself to beat these guys with evo's and all these other crazy cars. Am i just being retarded for doing so since its impossible or am i in the right mind set.

Hey man,
Sorry it's taken me so long to reply. I've been preparing for Nationals in Topeka. I believe I'll be the first G at the SCCA National Championships (correct me if I'm wrong) although there have been several 350z's there. I'll be running in ESP because of my modifications and race tires and I'm shooting for middle of the pack since lots of guys in my class have many more years of experience. If you look at the entries in ESP, you'll notice a ton of Mustangs, Camaros and a few Firebirds. My co-driver and I will be the lone import in the group unless you want to count the lone Eagle Talon (which is an AWD I might mention).

Locally (Houston Region) I've been consistently winning ESP, although the group is fairly small. The only 2nd place finish was at the last event where I had to jump in someone else’s car to finish my runs. I shredded the rubber completely off of one of my Kumho V710's on my first run. Needless to say the that run was wasted completely. I ended up driving a '98 Firebird for my final two runs and managed to come in second behind the Firebird's owner.
As far as PAX, when I was STX I was consistently in the top 25 (out of 130-160) and with the tougher PAX of ESP my best finish has been 15th out of 165.

What mods would qualify for ESP class? I have never ran with the SCCA, just my local BMW and Porsche clubs. they have rules based on your engine displacement and also if you are running R compounds.
Well apperently i am runing only with evo and sti guys. All V8 guys are in a different class then i am. Now after they found out i am running Nitto Extreme 555R II tires they saying i am on R compounds even though the R compounds that everyone else uses are either Hoosiers and Avons.
So i'm not sure if i have an argument there or not, because i 'm nto sure what my tires qualify for.
We do not run PAX unlike SCCA does and its just the best time out of 8 runs. Overall i usually come in just slightly above the half way mark from the people that are there. But its very hard to compare yourself to evo and sti guys.
