^ that's funny.

You want to shave more weight? Get a carbon fiber driveshaft. That will be 15lb lighter. I think i read you got a different hood but i could have missed it. did you or planing to get CF fenders? That is a good chunk of weight right there.

CF driveshaft was one of my favorite mods. It's 15lbs of rotational mass, which makes a much bigger difference plus you get rid of the carrier bearing that the stock 2 piece one used and if you're above 100k that bearing probably needs to be changed anyway (mine was pretty shot) so you'll get rid of some driveline vibration while at it.

If memory serves right, the stock hood and fendors are both aluminum and pretty light already, which in turn means you are barely saving any weight by switching to a CF hood or fenders from the likes of Seibon who use ~3 layers of fiberglass and put only a cosmetic layer of CF on their parts. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I recall reading that the parts from your average manufacturer like Seibon are not much lighter at all (maybe 2-3lbs ) .

Rowk,

Refreshing to see people here who are serious with weight reduction. The full cf replacement is a great move, weight on the motor and glass is about 22 pounds but could make a real dff as it's at the very top, and will be great on lowering center of gravity. Problem is, it seems that people have a really hard time sealing that off once it's removed, so something to keep in mind.

CF driveshaft is indeed a great move! I am certainly considering that, as it's offered with the LS swap kit that I am considering.

To the comment about become a better driver, better suspension... yea those are valid points. Both those and weight reduction will all affect the performance at the track. Becoming a better driver is frequently the biggest way to improve, so is a track suspension, correct alignment with enough toe in at the front, camber, etc... sticky, R-compound tires.... But this thead is focused on the weight reduction portion of track improvement, and trying to compile data on the guys who went all out and what were their accomplishments. Plenty of stickies at my350 about gutted car weights and such, but nothing around here that really discusses it

It would be great to hear from Zach@RareJDM... if anyone knows him, point him this way!

Zach is the only one that fully glutted his car. I know he weighed his wire that he took out of his car. Ended up being about 15lb. I don't think he is active on here anymore.

Yep Kparlett is one, Zach is another, then theres K&Ns sponsored track G which is pretty uknown here but very well built, and also GreenGlobbin. I will eventually go with Danny (GGobblin) to the DOT scale I used. He is also pretty much fully gutted as well, and most of the serious weight saving modifications competed, so it would be another solid reference.

I reached out to Kparlett on facebook with no sucess. If someone knows zach and/or kparlett, check with them for their current cars weight, so we can compile the data here
